Memorial Day is meant to be a day to remember those who served our great country in all branches of the military. Memorial Day weekend is also considered to be the start of summer. Here in Louisville, you can honor our veterans and have some fun that with a variety of family-friendly activities.
Flags4Vets Memorial Day Vigil
Memorial Day in Louisville starts on May 25 at Waterfront Park. Come at noon to help place 15,000 American flags in the shape of “USA.” When finished, the letters will each be 150 feet high and all three letters will be 450 feet wide. The event will finish with a Memorial Day observance.
Abbey Road on the River
If you love the Beatles, this five-day festival is the place for you. It is the world’s largest Beatles-inspired music festival and will be held May 23-27 in Jeffersonville. Along with live music, there will be plenty of Beatles merchandise, on-site food, a kid’s area, and craft vendors.
Free Summer Movies
Friday, May 24 marks the official start to the free summer movie season at Iroquois Amphitheater. All the movies are free, but may not always be family-friendly, so check the listing before you go. There are on-site concessions available for purchase.
